Michael is an experienced intellectual property attorney with a background in chemical engineering. His practice includes patents, copyrights, trademarks, right of publicity and contract matters.

He frequently negotiates with patent examiners on behalf of his clients to expediently move patent applications through the prosecution process. Michael finds it important to understand both the intricacies of the client’s technology and their business interests to secure meaningful intellectual property rights.
Michael works with representative technologies such as: polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, coatings, materials science, fuel cells, renewable energy, electrochemistry, e-commerce, business methods, oil and gas, medical devices and mechanical devices. In addition to his patent preparation and prosecution work, he secures copyright and trademark registrations for his clients. He also drafts, reviews, and negotiates contracts on behalf of his clients.
In addition to his work in intellectual property, Michael is an NFLPA (National Football League Players Association) certified player agent. He has a strong working knowledge of the NFL’s complex collective bargaining agreement (CBA) as well as the other rules that affect players. Michael’s legal training allows him to navigate these rules and negotiate favorable contracts on behalf of the players, so ultimately players can focus on the sport.
Michael has also developed expertise in the emerging law involving intercollegiate athletics Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University, where he teaches an undergraduate-level Introduction to Intellectual Property Law course.
