Nicholas R. Nick’s practice involves guiding clients at each stage of the patent prosecution process from conception of invention through patent searching, application drafting, and prosecution, to appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and patent enforcement litigation. Nick is skilled in conducting patent landscape, patentability, and freedom-to-operate searches, as well as performing validity, infringement, and non-infringement investigations and preparing opinions related to patentability, freedom-to- operate, validity, infringement, and non-infringement. Nick’s work also consists of developing and maintaining competitive monitoring strategies including patent and trademark watching and review of competitor applications, patents, and registrations. Nick is also experienced in assisting clients with intellectual property due diligence and acquisition. Nick has worked with various areas of technology related to mechanical engineering with an emphasis on medical devices, solar and electrical mounting systems, heavy and light-duty machinery, transportation, and production and storage facility automation. Nick is also experienced in trademark matters including trademark clearance searching, application preparation, prosecution, and enforcement.

Nick is involved in several professional associations including the Pittsburgh Intellectual Property Law Association (PIPLA) and the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) and spends his free time organizing The Webb Law Firm’s basketball team in the ACBA basketball league and serving as an assistant high school basketball coach.
