Lee C. Cheng, former Chief Legal Officer of online retailer Newegg.com, has joined The Webb Law Firm as Managing Counsel-West Coast. Cheng will have offices in both Pittsburgh, PA and in Los Angeles, CA.
At Webb, Cheng will focus on providing intellectual property advice and services, including licensing and litigation strategy and management, in addition to leveraging his in-house background and experience at leading national law firms to support clients with corporate and transactional legal needs. Cheng is recognized in the patent litigation field for his highly publicized multi-year battle defending Newegg against claims of patent infringement by many parties, assisted by a team of Webb lawyers, led by Kent Baldauf, Jr.
Cheng is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of California at Berkeley School of Law. He has received broad recognition as a legal innovator, and twice been named one of “America’s 50 Outstanding General Counsel” (2014 and 2016) as well as among the “Intellectual Property Trailblazers & Pioneers” (2014)–both by The National Law Journal, and received the IP Vanguard Award (2013) from the IP Section of the State Bar of California.
Cheng has also served on the Board of Industry Leaders of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the largest technology focused trade association in the world and the operator of the Consumer Electronics Show, as well the Board of Directors of the Association of Corporate Counsel-Southern California Chapter.
