Lara Northrop Queen is an accomplished Intellectual Property attorney with extensive experience in patent procurement, clearance to market evaluations, and strategic patent portfolio management. Lara works closely with clients to develop effective patent strategies that protect client innovations and enable competitive commercialization. Lara provides strategic guidance on a wide range of IP matters including patentability assessments, patent drafting and international coordination, freedom-to-operate analyses, acquisitions and related diligence, as well as post-grant proceedings at the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Lara specializes in developing, obtaining and leveraging global patent portfolios. She is skilled at implementing IP strategies to help clients navigate competitor patent landscapes and obtain valuable patent assets that are both effective and cost-efficient. Lara has extensive experience in medical device and physics-based technologies, including infusion and implant technologies, anesthesia and surgical tools, injection products, imaging systems, specimen collection and management products, diagnostic tools, disposal solutions, therapeutic and rehabilitation systems, and patient safety programs. Lara is also highly experienced in protecting and asserting intellectual property assets in consumer product technologies, including kitchen appliances, electronic devices, and packaging innovations. She regularly evaluates competitor technologies and patent portfolios to advise clients on potential risks as well as market opportunities. Lara also advises clients on asserting patents rights to prevent competitors from entering specific technology markets, as well as defensive patent strategies to minimize litigation risk.

Lara works with private and public companies of all sizes, from initial start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations, research institutions, and investment groups. She frequently lectures on innovation and protection of intellectual property and is a strategic advisor to IP-focused clients.
