Kirk M. Miles is an attorney handling all aspects of intellectual property law. Kirk’s technical discipline spans the mechanical and chemical arts, with a particular expertise in the fields of medical devices and implant technologies. Over his many years of practice, he has handled all types of intellectual property matters on behalf of clients, including patent procurement through the US and foreign patent offices, various contentious proceedings including inter partes reviews, and various aspects of patent infringement litigation.
Kirk began his professional career in the field of chemistry and soon recognized that his interests in science and business aligned well with the IP field. With a background in chemistry and business administration, Kirk brings a strong technical and strategic business perspective to assist clients in aligning their technology with their business goals.
Kirk has extensive experience in patent portfolio management, focusing his efforts on assisting clients in maximizing opportunities for worldwide IP protection. Kirk also has particular expertise counseling clients in pre-litigation strategies, including evaluating infringement issues, design-around strategies, and legal opinion writing. Kirk has gained a strong reputation for his effective counseling of clients in strategies for IP protection based on his strong background in patent prosecution and protection of technology in a variety of technical disciplines, along with his extensive experience in patent infringement analysis and strategy.
Kirk began his legal career practicing intellectual property in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area before returning to his roots in Western Pennsylvania and joining The Webb Law Firm in 2000.
