Dr. Brian Jackson is a seasoned patent attorney with over 14 years of experience advising clients across the life sciences, biotechnology, and various other technology sectors. With a doctorate in neuroscience and a strong foundation in intellectual property law, Dr. Jackson offers a rare blend of scientific depth and strategic legal insight.
Brian has extensive experience in patent preparation, prosecution, and client counseling, helping innovators protect and maximize the value of their intellectual property assets. He has prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications in the U.S., and has guided prosecution of corresponding applications in non-U.S. jurisdictions. Brian guides clients through every stage of the patent process—from invention disclosure and drafting to examination, issuance, and portfolio management.
Brian’s technical expertise spans a broad range of subject matter, including life sciences, medical devices, plants, and computer-implemented inventions. This multidisciplinary background enables him to craft effective and enforceable IP strategies across diverse technologies and industries.
Brian represents a wide range of clients, including solo inventors, universities, early-stage startups, and multinational corporations. He provides strategic counseling on freedom-to-operate analyses, due diligence, portfolio development, and IP risk management—always with a focus on aligning patent strategies with each client’s research, business, and commercialization objectives.
Before entering patent law, Brian earned a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, where he conducted research in medication-based strategies for addressing methamphetamine dependence and the cognitive effects attributable thereto. This scientific foundation enables him to understand emerging innovations at a technical level and communicate them effectively to patent examiners and stakeholders.
