James R. Franks, James J. Bosco, Jr., and Ryan J. Miller advance to become Shareholders
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Board of Directors of The Webb Law Firm, an Intellectual Property law firm, is pleased to announce that James R. Franks, James J. Bosco, Jr., and Ryan J. Miller have advanced to Shareholder positions at the Firm.
Mr. Franks is an attorney with extensive experience in chemistry, biology, metallurgy, mechanical arts, and computer science, including polymer and organic chemistry. Mr. Franks is a named inventor on 18 issued U.S. patents. Before joining The Webb Law Firm, Mr. Franks served as a patent attorney with the law departments of NOVA Chemicals Inc. and Bayer Corporation, and as a patent agent with the law department of PPG Industries, Inc. Prior to his legal practice, Mr. Franks was a research and development chemist with PPG Industries, Inc. for over 12 years. His extensive experience includes providing legal advice with regard to all areas of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, agreements, licensing, litigation, and infringement. Mr. Franks received his J.D. degree Cum Laude from the Duquesne University School of Law, where he was a member of the Duquesne University Law Review. Mr. Franks has a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh and a M.S. in Colloids, Polymers and Surfaces from Carnegie Mellon University. Presently, Mr. Franks is an adjunct professor of law with the Duquesne University School of Law.
Mr. Bosco is an attorney with significant experience litigating patents across the United States, including the Eastern District of Texas, District of Delaware, and Central and Northern Districts of California, involving software and related high-technology industries. Mr. Bosco is a registered patent attorney who counsels clients on patent, copyright, licensing, infringement and validity opinions, data privacy, acquisitions and related matters. Prior to his legal practice, Mr. Bosco had over 10 years of experience in software design, implementation, and engineering, including developing enterprise software solutions at Cambridge Technology Partners for a number of diverse corporations, such as Boeing, General Motors, Ford, University of Utah, BellSouth and Intuitive Surgical, Inc. Mr. Bosco received his J.D. degree from the Duquesne University School of Law. Additionally, Mr. Bosco has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from San Jose State University.
Mr. Miller is an attorney with significant experience in medical imaging and electrical engineering. Mr. Miller served earlier in his career as a Patent Examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Working in an analytical art unit that specialized in medical imaging and digital watermarking, he was responsible for researching patent applications in the art of image processing to ensure that applications and claimed inventions met applicable patent statutes and rules in all phases of patent prosecution. In 2004, Mr. Miller joined The Webb Law Firm as a patent agent with degrees in electrical engineering and economics from Duke University. Mr. Miller received his J.D. degree Cum Laude from Duquesne University School of Law, where he was a member of the Duquesne University Law Review.
