Russell D. Orkin is a veteran
Intellectual Property attorney whose career is characterized by
success in many IP areas particularly materials science and
agribiotech. Before joining The Webb Law Firm in the late 1960s,
Mr. Orkin worked in the steel industry as a metallurgical
engineer/chief steelmaking metallurgist. Over the years, his work
has ranged from protecting steelmaking processes to representing
drug makers in disputes over pharmaceutical products. He is
considered an authority in the area of plant patents and has helped
many local and international breeders to secure protection for their
agribiotech developments that include both food products and
ornamental flowers, trees and shrubs used in landscaping. During
the Cold War era, he helped a plant breeder on the east side of the
Berlin Wall to obtain patent licensing services from the west, and
has continued to provide IP support for horticultural business and
industry, which flourish today.
He was named a
Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in 2005, 2006 and 2008.
Professional Responsibilities
Mr. Orkin serves as a director and president of The Webb Law
Firm, which has concentrated exclusively in intellectual property
law since 1845. He is actively involved with all areas of IP law,
as well as the day-to-day operations of the firm.
